Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 28, 2026
Vanhub News (operated by Vanhub Media Inc., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) takes reader privacy seriously. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how readers in Canada and the United States can exercise their rights over that data. If anything below is unclear, please email contact@vanhubnews.com.
1. What we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Newsletter signups — email address and (optional) display name.
- Contact / corrections submissions — name, email, and the body of your message.
- Account-style features (chat beta, saved articles) — display name and email when you sign in.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs — IP address, user agent, referrer, requested URL, response status, and timestamp. Retained for 30 days for fraud prevention and abuse mitigation, then aggregated.
- First-party analytics — page views, session depth, and scroll depth, used solely to improve editorial decisions. We do not sell or share this data.
- Cookies & similar technologies — strictly necessary cookies for session continuity, plus advertising cookies described in Section 3.
2. How we use your information
- To operate and secure the Vanhub News website.
- To send the daily/weekly digest (only if you have explicitly opted in).
- To respond to tips, corrections, partnership inquiries, and reader mail.
- To understand which stories serve readers well so editors can prioritize beats accordingly. This is aggregate-only.
- To detect and prevent fraud, scraping, and abusive automation.
We do not sell reader data, and we do not allow third parties to fingerprint readers across unrelated sites for their own purposes.
3. Advertising & Google AdSense
Vanhub News is partly supported by display advertising delivered through Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on a reader's prior visits to this site or other sites. Specifically:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve personalized ads based on a user's prior visits.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to readers based on visits to Vanhub News and other sites on the Internet.
- Readers may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
4. Data sharing
We share data only with vendors strictly required to operate the site:
- Hosting & CDN — Vercel (United States) and Cloudflare (United States / Canada).
- Database — Supabase (United States), encrypted at rest.
- Email delivery — Resend or Postmark (United States), under standard contractual clauses.
- Advertising — Google AdSense (see Section 3).
We never share newsletter subscriber lists with advertisers or any third party for marketing purposes.
5. Your rights
Under PIPEDA (Canada), the BC Personal Information Protection Act, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA), you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of that information.
- Opt out of any non-essential marketing communications at any time.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your state Attorney General.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@vanhubnews.com. We respond within 30 days.
6. Children
Vanhub News is intended for adult readers (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover such data, we delete it.
7. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes materially, we will post the updated text here and revise the "Last updated" date. For substantial changes (e.g., new ad partners, new data categories), we will additionally notify readers via the homepage banner for at least 14 days.
